Newport Beach Skin Pen Procedure
Treatment area(s) is numbed with a topical numbing cream for 30 minutes before the treatment begins.
Our Aesthetic Nurse will first cleanse the face and degrease it with alcohol pads. During treatment, micro-needles penetrate the skin’s surface. Most of our Newport Beach Skin Pen patients report no pain during or after treatment.
A Zimmer cooler is on hand if needed for additional comfort. Patients are advised not to wear makeup or sunscreen after treatment as the skin is very porous and this allows for the HA to penetrate more deeply into the dermis. Note: Patients with a history of cold sores will be proactively treated pre and postoperatively with prescription medication.
The skin’s appearance improves moderately after the initial treatment and significantly after the completion of six treatments. Optimal improvement is 30 days following your final treatment. The treated area is moderate to significantly red immediately following treatment and can remain so for up to 24 hours post-treatment. Slight swelling can occur but subsides within 1-3 days.
It is important to hydrate the skin sufficiently with raindrops and not scrub or exfoliate for 5 days following treatment. The day after Skin Pen treatment any residual redness can be covered with the Elta MD tinted sunscreen or mineral powder makeup. Sunscreen should be worn at all times during and after recovery when the skin is exposed to sunlight, including indirect sunlight such as driving.
