52-year-old woman, 5’7″, 130 lbs, full facelift, upper and lower eyelid surgery, Newport Beach, CA.
This patient came to see Dr. Anton, Best Facelift Doctor Los Angeles, at his Newport Beach office to discuss face and neck lift surgery. She complained of feeling and looking older than her fifty-two years. She had been doing botox and fillers but did not feel they were keeping up with the signs of aging – sagging skin, fine lines and wrinkles.
Dr. Anton performed a SMAS (sub-muscular aponeurotic system) facelift. The SMAS is the deep layer of the tissue. It is more fibrous than the top layers of the dermis. The SMAS can hold tension when it is elevated and repositioned, as it is during facelift surgery. This is a key element to achieving a natural facelift result. After suturing the SMAS into place, the skin is re-draped with minimal tension. This offers the most natural looking result and one that can stand the test of time. Excess skin is trimmed away before it is sutured back in to place.
Facelift incisions are made in the hairline. They follow the inside crease of the ear and behind the earlobe. Once healed, the scars are hidden and virtually unnoticeable. This patient can still wear her hair pulled up or back in a ponytail without anyone being able to see her scars.
Along with a face and neck lift, the patient had an upper and lower blepharoplasty (eyelid surgery). Blepharoplasty removes excess skin and opens up the eyes for a more refreshed and youthful appearance. Incisions disappear in the skin’s natural creases.
The patient had very little swelling or bruising postoperatively. She spent the first night at a facility with a nurse. Her pain was minimal. She wore a neck wrap for one week after surgery. Sutures were removed after seven days.
